Construction activity has picked up in Madrid in 2019, particularly in the residential sector. There are currently a total of 484 construction and refurbishment projects underway in the capital, up 16% y-o-y, with 366 operating cranes. The city’s peripheral districts – Vicálvaro, Fuencarral-El Pardo, Hortaleza and Moncloa-Aravaca – account for 43% of the total cranes.

Methodology adopted

For the fourth consecutive year, CBRE has carried out a comprehensive study to pinpoint and track the construction projects underway in Madrid. Internal database research was combined with extensive fieldwork during August and September. The study is focused on private development works.
